Easter Holiday in Moldova!

Our country Moldova is small, but with a rich ethnic history. A big part of our population belongs to the Eastern Orthodox Church. That’s why Easter is the most important religious holiday in Moldova. On this day Jesus was resurrected.

In Moldova, the Easter celebration lasts two days—Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, which is the official public holiday. One week after Easter Monday is Memorial Easter. On this day, people visit and take care of the graves of their deceased relatives.

On this holiday people color eggs, especially in red color, and cook a lot of delicious dishes, such as Easter cakes and Easter bread. Then, all this meals are sprinkled with holy water at a church or monastery. In the morning, every person should first of all eat this food from the church.
